I have added some new photos to the Photo Gallery area of the site and have reorganized the albums so the newest ones show first. You can get to the new photos by clicking on the Photo Gallery tab at the top of the site (just to the left of the Forum tab).

Here is what has been added:

• Pictures from the May 2010 club meeting
• Pictures from the April 2010 club outing to the new claim outside of 29 Palms
• Pictures from the April Metal Detecting outing to Oceanside

If you have pictures from a club meeting, event, or outing and would like to share them, please email them to webmaster@gpaatvp.com. Also, if you have a story about an outing or an event or just prospecting in general, please send that along too as we are always looking for good information to share with the members.

John Bucholzer will be leading the group on our next metal detecting outing on Saturday May 22nd and we will be going to Holcomb Valley looking for gold.  In your GPAA Mining Guide it is CA-46 & CA-47. We will meet at 8:00 am at the Big Bear Discovery Center which is located at 40971 North Shore Drive (Highway 38), Fawnskin, CA 92333.

Items to bring:

• Lunch
• Water (a must have)
• Adventure pass (so you can park your vehicle)
• GPAA membership prospecting permit or bring a friend with one
• Metal Detector

There is no phone reception where we are going, so call before Saturday with any questions.

The TVP Outing is this Saturday (5/15/2010). The group will be going to the Crystal Group claims (GPAA # CA-45) and will be meeting at 8:00 am.

Our first Metal Detecting Outing will be held on Saturday April 10th after the monthly TVP Meeting. John Bucholzer will be leading the group and we will be heading down to a spot called Oceanside Harbor in Oceanside. The meeting place will be at a pay to park area where S. Harbor Dr. meets N. Pacific St. The approximate address is 204 S. Harbor Dr., Oceanside CA (click the address for a map).

Here is what you need to bring:

• A Metal Detector
• Food and water for yourself
• Cash for the parking area

If you don’t have a detector right now, but are interested in learning more about them, please come out and see how they work.
