July meeting for TVP

Posted by Josh on 3rd July 2009

It is time for our monthly meeting. We will be meeting at the same location as the last meetings.

The meeting will be on July 11th and will start at 9am at 26201 Ynez Rd, Temecula, CA 92591. We will be there at 8am to start setting up. You are welcome anytime after that.

Due to the fact that I have been looking for a building,  I was  not able to get  a speaker for the meeting. If you would like to talk at the meeting please shoot me an email.

TVPHP will be packing up their stuff durring that week so I do not know if we will have enough tables and chairs.

Please bring a chair for yourself and an extra if you have one. Also of you have a folding table, please try to bring that. I am not sure we will need it, but I would rather have it and not need it; then need it and not have it.

Hope to see everyone there.

On the Vast Tsongas Rainforest

Posted by Wagonmaster on 4th March 2009

“Sitting like a turquoise gem in a bowl of hemlock, Sitka spruce and ice, Berners Bay has long been a jewel of Alaska’s Tongass National Forest.” Wow, something I can relate to right here on the front page of the newspaper, and it was the Los Angeles Times! “Mine would bring jobs, backers say”. I swear that was the headline. What the HE double hockey sticks is going on! Am I dreaming? The opening line, the most important for any written work, sounded familiar. “Do I know this author?” I thought. No, it was a Kim Murphy straight from the source, B.B. Alaska. Did she go to see it for herself? Why so few pictures? Is this for real? I read on thinking, “This is gonna be a good one with an opener like that.” Read for yourself for its entirety and context. Monday, March 2, 2009 (page one).

To me this article seemed like an attempt to paint an honest view of both sides of the story, not a good tactic for a written piece. You have to be emotional and care about something to really make it a good effort. At least that’s my opinion. You almost have to take a side. Kim’s piece went off well though. I knew about the proposed mine from Gov. Palens’ race, I know Gold is going crazy world wide. I know a lot of it is still in Alaska waiting to be coined. The standards and restrictions placed on miners are very high so the real professionals rarely screw up now, they don’t want the bad press, you see, it’s bad for the stock prices. Remember “Erin Broke-o-Vetch”
