TVP January 2011 Meeting

Posted by Tracy on 4th January 2011

The January 2011 Temecula Valley Prospectors meeting will be held on Saturday, January 8th, at 9:00 am. Our meetings are held at the Temecula Community Center located at 28816 Pujol St., Temecula CA.

This month Ken has arranged a special speaker for the meeting. He is a Geologist and it should be very interesting.

We are introducing a new grand prize this month, so come on out to find out what it is.

Following the meeting on Saturday, there will be a metal detecting outing lead by John. It will be held at the Sam Hicks park, but will be limited to only 14 participants other than John. This is due to a restriction imposed by the city of Temecula. There is a separate post for that outing, so if you are interested in going, be sure to read that post.

Hope to see you all on Saturday.

In talking with Ken, it looks like the new grand prize, introduced at the September meeting, is ready to be given away and will most likely go this month! The grand prize is a Mountain Goat Trommel by Camel Mining Products valued at $695, so make sure you get some more tickets this month… who knows, you might just be taking it home.

TVP October 2010 Meeting

Posted by Tracy on 4th October 2010

The October 2010 Temecula Valley Prospectors meeting will be held on Saturday, October 9th, at 9:00 am. Our meetings are held at the Temecula Community Center located at 28816 Pujol St., Temecula CA.

Last month we introduced our new grand prize raffle item which is a Mountain Goat Trommel by Camel Mining Products valued at $695. If you’ve never seen one of these in action, be sure to adjust your schedule so you can be at the meeting this month as I will be doing a live demonstration and will be available to answer any questions you might have.

Now if the Mountain Goat Trommel isn’t enough to get your blood flowing… how about a 3.5 gram gold nugget? That’s right, this month there will be a 3.5 gram gold nugget as part of the gold raffle. This is a monster nugget and it might just have your name on it if we pick your Gold Raffle ticket! At today’s closing price ($1,314) this nugget is worth nearly $150 at spot, but ramp that up for the uniqueness factor and you are looking at a $300 to $400 nugget! Don’t believe it? Go over to eBay and take a look at what people are paying for gold nuggets… it’s a mad house out there!

After many years of wonderful service, Wagon Master Jay has stepped down from that position. He did a fantastic job and we are grateful for his service to the club. However, we are now in need of a new Wagon Master. If you love getting out to new places and sharing your prospecting experience with others, then please talk to Ken at the meeting or drop him an email and let him know you might be interested in be a Wagon Master.

If you’ve been out digging or detecting this month, don’t forget to bring your finds to share with the group. Who knows… you might just win some gold!

All are welcome at our club meetings, so we hope to see you there.

Important Note:

The Temecula Rod Run is the same weekend as our meeting so your normal access to the Community Center may be closed. Please give yourself some extra time as traffic can be heavy and use the Hwy 79 exit instead of Rancho California Rd.

GPAA Commercial

Posted by Ken on 16th August 2010

The GPAA is looking for a local young couple, GPAA members, 25 – 35 years old for a 30 second commercial they’re shooting around here. They’ll be metal detecting together out in the desert and speaking from a script into the camera. Also there is hugging at one point so a couple is ideal. They are paying $100 for each person and taking care of expenses as well.

If you are interested, send your contact information (i.e. names of the couple, address, phone, ages, GPAA member number, etc.) and a photo to Chris Culp at the GPAA. Chris is the GPAA editor and his email address isĀ  cculp@goldprospectors.org.

If you have any questions, you can contact Chris directly using the email address above or at (951) 699-4749 x160.
