No Wagonmaster for June 2010 Outing

Posted by Tracy on 17th June 2010

Due to an urgent family matter, Wagonmaster Jay will not be able to go on the club outing to East Fork this weekend. Our backup wagonmaster, Jim, will not be there either, so if you aren’t familiar with the area, try to hook up with another club member who has been there before.

Please keep Jay and his family in your prayers.

Father’s Day is Almost Here

Posted by Ken on 11th June 2010

Father’s Day is right around the corner… do you know what you’re getting for Pop this year? Well how about some prospecting gear? Maybe a new pan, a display case to show off his finds, a digital scale to weigh all that gold, or maybe a beach scoop… feeling really generous? How about an automatic gold panning machine or a new metal detector? Our hobby has a lot of cool things that I know Dad would enjoy, you just need to find the one that fits him the best.

We have three members of our club that would be happy to help you find the right thing for Dad.

John Bucholzer – Legends Prospecting Supplies

Lorrie Young – Executive Detectors

  • executivedetectors@msn.com – Email Address

Tracy Snethen – Nugget Hunters of America

If you are looking for something for Dad, be sure to get with them at the meeting tomorrow (Saturday) or get in touch with them this week.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow at the meeting.

Ken

TVP Metal Detecting Outing – June 2010

Posted by Tracy on 9th June 2010

John Bucholzer will be leading the group on our next metal detecting outing on June 12th right after the club meeting. The outing will be from 12:00 noon to 4 pm at the Rotary Park in Temecula. This is the park right next to the community center where we hold our meeting, so the commute to the outing will be really short :-)

Rotary Park Temecula

Rotary Park Temecula

John has gotten special permission for us to use the park for the outing and the maintenance staff will be checking up on us to see how our club did after we are finished. This will determine if we can use Temecula parks in the future, so let’s leave it in better shape than when we arrived.

Here are a few guidelines:

  • If you dig a hole be sure to fill it in.
  • If you are digging in the grass, take care on how the grass is removed so it can be put back (like a divot when out on the golf course).
  • If you see some trash, pick it up.
  • Be courteous to those who might be using the park.

The park is only about 1 acre in size, so there won’t be a lot of area to explore, but it should be good fun to get out with the group to see what we can find.

It is going to be in the mid 80′s on Saturday, so don’t forget to bring a hat, some water to drink, and be sure to put your detector in the car :-)

New Photos Added to the Gallery

Posted by Tracy on 9th June 2010

I have added some new photos to the Photo Gallery area of the site and have reorganized the albums so the newest ones show first. You can get to the new photos by clicking on the Photo Gallery tab at the top of the site (just to the left of the Forum tab).

Here is what has been added:

  • Pictures from the May 2010 club meeting
  • Pictures from the April 2010 club outing to the new claim outside of 29 Palms
  • Pictures from the April Metal Detecting outing to Oceanside

If you have pictures from a club meeting, event, or outing and would like to share them, please email them to webmaster@gpaatvp.com. Also, if you have a story about an outing or an event or just prospecting in general, please send that along too as we are always looking for good information to share with the members.

TVP June Meeting

Posted by Tracy on 8th June 2010

The June 2010 Temecula Valley Prospectors meeting will be held on Saturday, June 12th, at 9:00 am. Our meetings are held at the Temecula Community Center located at 28816 Pujol St., Temecula CA.

Our Metal Detector & Roy’s Rocker Grand Prize was given away last month and Ken has acquired a new grand prize that is going to knock your socks off… are you sitting down? Well here it is…

Keene DW212v

Keene DW2 Mini Dry Washer w/12V Power

Simply the lightest, most compact, portable and efficient Dry Washer on the market. The easy turning hand crank controls the vibration on our DW2, enabling heavier materials to settle faster. The over-sized Marlex hopper has an adjustable flow control to provide an even flow of material with increased capacity. The dual riffle design greatly improves fine gold recovery and has a snap latching system which makes removal of the riffle tray a snap for clean up. Ir includes the optional 12 Volt electric motor that operates the vibrating crank shaft for faster settling of heavier material. Efficient, light, portable and a breeze to operate, this Dry Washer is an absolute value.

The retail value of this Dry Washer is $775, so you need to make sure you get your share of the tickets, because this one is going to be HOT!!

We are still waiting on confirmation of our speaker this month, but we’ve had a lot going on this month, so you’ll want to come and catch up on what everyone’s been doing and share your adventures too.

All are welcome, so we hope to see you there.
